BiARS is the information centre for Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset. Ran by volunteers 10am - 4pm seven days a week (excluding Christmas Day).
The aim of BiARS is to assist visitors to our beautiful seaside town as well as giving support and advice to the residents of Burnham and Highbridge and surrounding villages.
In 2010 the local District Council made the decision that it would have to close the Tourist Information Centre in Burnham-on-Sea. A group of residents decided that it would be a travesty to lose such an asset to the area and put their heads together to see what we, as a community, could do.
Early in 2011, with the help of the District Council, Burnham and Highbridge Town Council and a merry band of volunteers BiARS was formed. For legal reasons the newly formed group had to take on a different identity than the centre had before. It was decided to work with the local rescue organisations, and to this day a close bond and working relationship is in place between BiARS and the 3 local rescue organisations, BARB Search and Rescue, HM Coastguard and RNLI.
On April 14th 2011 BiARS opened its doors to the public and was officially opened by Glastonbury Icon Michael Eavis.

Support us on outside events.
We have an amazing volunteer who has fundraised for us for many years, doing table top sales, car boots and book stalls outside BiARS and at various events. If you see her, give her a smile and take a look at what she has for sale. All proceeds go to keeping us open. If you have books you no longer need, we are always in need of more. They can be delivered to BiARS during our opening hours.
